Bringing home a new puppy is exciting, rewarding… and sometimes a little bit chaotic! Our Puppy Pre-School is designed to help you and your newest family member get off to the very best start together.
We welcome puppies from just 8 weeks old, so you can begin learning and socialising before their primary vaccination course is complete. Sessions are held on a one-to-one basis by appointment in a safe, controlled environment at West Chiltington Church Hall.
Whether this is your first puppy or it’s been a while since you last had one, we’re here to offer friendly support, practical advice and plenty of encouragement along the way.
Why start so early?
We know just how important those first few weeks are in a puppy’s development. Early training and positive socialisation help build confident, happy dogs and give them the skills they need to cope with everyday life.
Our Puppy Pre-School provides a safe, positive environment where your puppy can start exploring the world, meeting new people and experiencing new sights, sounds and situations in a calm and enjoyable way. Starting early helps lay the foundations for good behaviour and a strong bond between you and your puppy.
Friendly advice for puppy owners
Raising a puppy comes with lots of questions, and we’re always happy to help! During your sessions you’ll receive practical advice and guidance on:
- House training and establishing good routines.
- Safe, positive socialisation.
- Handling and grooming with confidence.
- Diet, feeding and healthy development.
- Keeping your puppy safe at home and when out and about.
- Maintaining your puppy’s health and wellbeing.
No question is too small – we’ve probably been asked it before!
Your puppy’s first life skills
Using kind, reward-based training, we’ll introduce your puppy to some of the most important foundation skills they’ll use every day, including:
- Recall – coming back when called.
- Lead walking – learning to walk nicely on a loose lead.
- Stay – building patience and self-control.
- Travel safety – helping your puppy become relaxed and confident when travelling.
We’ll also include lots of fun play-and-train activities to keep learning enjoyable and help your puppy build confidence through games and positive experiences.
Learning together
Our aim is to make training fun for both puppies and their owners. Every puppy learns at their own pace, and our experienced training team is there to offer individual support and encouragement throughout each session.
By the end of Puppy Pre-School, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to continue training at home, and your puppy will have a fantastic foundation to build on.
Ready for group classes?
Once your puppy has completed their Pre-School sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to join our group puppy classes, where learning continues alongside other puppies in a friendly, supportive setting.
These classes help develop everyday life skills, confidence and good manners while giving puppies valuable opportunities to continue socialising as they grow.
A friendly club for dogs of all breeds
Although we’re the West Chiltington Cavaliers, our training classes are open to all breeds. We use gentle, motivational, reward-based methods to help dogs and owners enjoy learning together, whatever breed or experience level.
